CUSTOM / RESTORATION / CATALOG

Since 1980, architects, designers, contractors and homeowners have relied on our traditional plasterwork to lend beauty, distinction and character to their homes and commercial projects. Using methodology that is steeped in centuries-old tradition, we use time-honored gypsum-based plaster compositions and avoid fillers like concrete or plastic. Whether your projects calls for an off-the-shelf catalog item, a hand-carved custom ornament, or a historical reproduction from your building, we are here to help.

HUNTERS POINT SHIPYARD, SF CA

Born out of a basement 35 years ago on Broderick Street, the shop got its big break when Lorna Kollmeyer won the bid to restore the entire facade of San Francisco’s historic Hotel Majestic. Scrambling a team of her closest artist friends, Kollmeyer managed to get the entire five-story job done, carving out a niche for her fledgling business in the process.

Together with her partners Mike and Amy, Lorna Kollmeyer has built a thriving, authentic plaster shop. Because the studio houses an immense collection of molds amassed over its 36 years in business, it has become San Francisco’s de facto archivist of cast historic ornament. The studio produces ceiling medallions, cartouches, crown moldings, column capitals, brackets - the entire array of ornaments that adorn San Francisco’s fabulous historic buildings.
